Hugh brought greetings from the Liberal Party of Alberta at the opening ceremonies of Black History Month on Saturday, January 30th, 2010.
Remembrance Day
Hugh attended the Remembrance Day activities at the Cenotaph, where he placed a wreath on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009.
Terry Fox Run
Hugh spoke to and started the Terry Fox run at Ottewell School on Friday, September 25th, 2009.
Hugh attended the Heritage Savings and Trust fund public meeting in Calgary on Thursday, September 24th, 2009.

Hugh attended the Capilano Safeway Pancake Breakfast on Tuesday July 21st, 2009.
Canada Day
Hugh celebrated Canada Day at the Legislature on Sunday, July 1st, 2009.
Hugh MacDonald and Thomas Lukaszuk at the Edmonton Chinatown Care Centre Fathers Day lunch on June 21st, 2009.
On June 18th, Hugh presented the D.A.R.E. Awards (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) at Capilano Elementary School 10720 – 54 Street.
On June 17th Hugh attended the Chinatown Care Centre BBQ at 9539 – 102A Avenue.
- Also on June 17th Hugh attended the 25th anniversary of Montgomery Legion Place at 9420 – 92 Street.
Hugh attended 2 seniors teas on Friday June 5th, 2009 at Gold Bar Community Hall and Fulton Place Community Hall. Both were most enjoyable.
McNalley High School Awards

Hugh was at McNally High School Awards night at Hawelak Park on Tuesday June 2nd. He presented the Gold Bar MLA Award to Bryan Tran, this year’s recipient.
Friends of Medicare Rally
On Saturday May 9th, 2009, I was privileged to attend and address the attendees of a rally which was organized by the Friends of Medicare. Hundreds of passionate health care advocates descended on the Alberta legislature grounds. They were there to fight for the maintenance and improvement of publicly funded health care in this province. It is something which I wholeheartedly believe in and I admire all those who attended for their involvement in this debate.

Hugh attended the annual process to celebrate the creation of Khalsa on Sunday, May 17th, 2009. A parade started at 1:00 pm from Gurdwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha, and stopped at Gurdwara, in Millwoods. Hugh was honoured to convey his best wishes to the Sikh community.
Vaisakhi occurs every year during the spring. It is held on April 14th and is a traditional harvest season festival of northern India. The harvesting of wheat is started at this time and it is considered an indication of wealth and prosperity. It is important and celebrated by all communities in India, but it has special significance for the Sikh community.
